An unusual accent plant with a pendulous habit and deep purple foliage which changes to a purple-green colour by the summer and to golden-bronze in the fall. The mushroom-shaped dome has widely arching, silvery-gray branches.
This beautiful purple-leaved specimen, with its erratic weeping branches is a highlight in any landcape. Creative pruning and staking can be done to expose its irregular growth habit, giving it more visual appeal. European beech thrives in a rich, moist, well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade.
