Heavy bloomer with dark green foliage and large, creamy-white bracts. Exfoliating bark gives year round interest on this vase-shaped plant with reddish-purple to scarlet fall colour. Produces a pinkish-red, raspberry-like drupe.

The showy flowers seen on Cornus kousa cultivars are actually bracts surrounding the smaller, inconspicuous flower in the centre.
Grows best in medium-moisture and an acidic, well-drained soil, but will tolerate a range of light levels.
