Showy, scarlet-red samaras against the dark green foliage give this plant the appearance of being in full flower. All season interest is piqued with clusters of yellow-white blooms in the spring and the orange-red foliage in the fall.
Acer tataricum 'Hot Wings' is distinguished from the species by the samaras (seeds) turning bright red much earlier in the season, and persisting well into the fall.
An interesting specimen tree for the landscape with its colourful seeds in late summer to fall. Best growth occurs in areas with cool, summer climates.
