A small, slow-growing, ornamental tree with white flowers followed by clusters of red fruit. The dark blue-green foliage exhibits a reddish-purple colour in the fall.

Native to Ontario and parts of North America.

Birds love to eat the berries from showy mountainash, especially in the winter when other foods are hard to find. 

Mountain ash has ash-like leaves, but are members of the rose family, and are not related to true ash (Fraxinus of the olive family). Sorbus are not a host plant of emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis).
