A fast-growing, multi-stemmed shrub displaying clusters of large, fragrant, flat-topped, white flowers. The purple-black fruit is good for jellies, pies, wine, and attracting birds.

Native to Ontario and other parts of North America.
A vigorous shrub that will tolerate many soil and light conditions. Suckering freely, it is excellent for re-naturalization. Berries are edible, but only when fully ripe. Some people have a sensitivity to the berries even after they are cooked.
