'Helsinki University' was hybridized and introduced by Uosukainen. This cultivar was named to honour the 300th anniversary of the Helsinki University. 

Seed Parent and Pollen Parent:  brachycarpum  ssp. tigerstedtii x unknown

Predominant Flower Colour: Pink

Elepidote: Without scales, as opposed to lepidote. Large leaf.

Lepidote: Having scales. Tiny scales typically cover the undersides of the leaves. Small leaf.

Growing & Maintenance Tips for Rhododendron 'Helsinki University'

Rhododendrons require constant moisture (but not standing water), a fertile soil with a low pH and grow best in partial shade. Any pruning should be done soon after flowering to ensure bud set. Plants can benefit from protection (burlap wrap) against drying, winter winds and sun in an exposed location.
