Growing & Maintenance Tips for Lonicera japonica 'Halliana'

Grows best in a moist to average, well-drained soil, in full sun to partial shade. Once established, it can handle long periods of dry conditions and still thrive.  This twining vine can be used to grow on an arbour or trellis. Of all the honeysuckles, it grows well as a ground cover and can be sheared off with a lawnmower in early spring. New shoots often come up from the crown, and once these shoots appear the plant can be pruned down to the height of the new growth. Otherwise, the shoots can be pruned in early spring to maintain size and shape.
