The young foliage is purple in the spring, fading to green-purple throughout the summer, then to copper in the fall. A densely compact, symmetrical and upright, oval tree with smooth, silver-gray bark.

A majestic tree with great visual appeal, ideal for a large, estate lawn or park settings. Its dark foliage colour will stand out amongst typically green surroundings. European beech thrives in a rich, moist, well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade. Very little pruning is necessary to maintain its shape.
