The corky ridges on this cultivar are absent or reduced in size, however, the fall foliage takes on the same outstanding colours of red, burgundy, and pink as its cousin. The orange-red seeds are often hidden amongst the autumn colours.

Best grown in full sun and fertile soils, this plant will tolerate various conditions, except wet, poorly drained sites. Will tolerate almost full shade, but with potential reduction in fall colour. Prune in late winter, as burning bush flushes new growth for only about two weeks in the spring.
