Grows best in a rich, fertile, average to moist soil, that is well-drained. Thrives in full sun, but does well in partial shade. Once established, it becomes quite drought tolerant due to the deep, taproots. Best left undisturbed once established. Naturally found along seashores and is considered to be salt tolerant.
