Narrow, grass-like, dark green leaves and thin stems support star-like, five-petaled , white to light pink blooms with pink veining and anthers.
Best grown in a moist to average, rich, humus soil, in full or dappled sun. Claytonia is tough and can survive environmental degradation more than most spring blooming natives. Foliage continues to grow for a short period after blooming, before the tuber or corm goes back into dormancy, usually in late spring, early summer.
