Emerging, compound, lacy foliage on this woodland plant shows a tint of blue or purple pigment. Greenish-yellow to greenish-brown flower clusters produce deep blue berries.
Foliage resembles that of thalictrum (Meadow Rue), hence the species name thalictroides.
Best grown in a shady, woodland area in a rich, humusy, consistently moist soil. Slow to establish and best left undisturbed once mature.
