Fern-like, dense foliage emphasizes the nodding, white blooms on this ground cover plant. Flowers give way to white, woolly seed heads.
Anemone sylvestris grows best in a moist, loose soil in partial shade. Tolerates full sun as long as adequate moisture is provided. Will wander in the garden, however, can be easily contained with regular weeding and general maintenance. Do not prune back immediately after the flowers fade, as blossoms leave behind unique woolly seed heads that remain for the summer. However, the plants are self-seeding. Catch them at the right time.
