Habitually it grows close to the ground like a spreading juniper. The drooping branches of soft green foliage follow the contours of the ground often exposing the plant's silver bark.

This hemlock cultivar is an excellent alternative to spreading junipers.
This plant forms a unique low maintenance evergreen, ideal in any rock garden as a flat, creeping spreader. It is quite intolerant of urban pollution, therefore, inner city or streetside plantings should be avoided. Protection (burlap wrap) from drying winter winds is recommended in an exposed location.
