Mountain ash has ash-like leaves, but are members of the rose family, and are not related to true ash (Fraxinus of the olive family). Sorbus are not a host plant of emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis).
A good lawn specimen with its white flowers followed by showy berries. Sorbus is best suited for areas with a cooler climate.
