An emergent aquatic with large, triangular, spongy, dark green stems bearing brownish inflorescence.

Growing & Maintenance Tips for Scirpus validus

Grows in marshes, along pond shorelines or in wet meadows, in full sun to light shade. This sedge spreads by rhizomes and is a good choice for erosion control.  Dead stems can be cleaned out in early spring.
