Growing & Maintenance Tips for Saskatoon Berry 'Honeywood'
Saskatoon berries are very hardy although late spring frosts should be avoided. They prefer average moisture in well drained soils with a PH above 6 ideally. They will begin to bear fruit at 2-4yrs of age on old wood in late June. Plants generally will not require pruning until 7-9 years of age and then removing damaged, weak or crossed branches should be performed in early spring before new growth begins. Saskatoon berries are self-pollinating although will produce larger and more fruit if another one is present.
