A fast-growing, pyramidal, narrow shape when young, they have a long trunk, silvery-white bark, and a narrow, rounded crown at maturity. The foliage is a lustrous, dark green with silvery undersides, turning a brilliant yellow in the fall. The leaves "tremble" in the slightest of breezes.

Native to Ontario and parts of North America.
Prefers rich humous, consistanly moist, well drained soils in full sun. This tree thrives in cooler northern climates and does not tolerate heat and humidity.
