The distorted appearance of the branches and the short, compact, dark green needles give this plant the natural look of a manicured bonsai plant. A slow-growing selection for a small corner of the garden.
As with most pines, this unusual plant grows best in a well-drained soil. If necessary, pinching the candles in mid-spring will encourage a more compact form.
To improve looks and airflow, these plants would benefit from periodic 'combing' (use your fingers) to remove dead material.
