A self-pollinating cross with the habit of a currant and fruit of a black gooseberry. The fruit has a unique, tangy, sweet taste. Green in colour when young, ripening to deep purple. High in vitamin C. It is great for jams, jellies, pies, and eating fresh. Ripens late July.
