A fast-growing tree and one of the first to show its outstanding, scarlet fall colour which lasts well into the season. It can grow in lowlands, handle excessive moisture and dry sites. Somewhat pyramidal in shape with a dense, narrow crown.

Autumn Flame red maple is noted for its smaller leaves compared to those of other cultivars, its fall colour that develops about two weeks prior to others of the species and excellent scarlet fall colour.
Grows best in full sun and an acidic soil, that is medium to wet, with good drainage.
